Our position paper on “Social Choice with Text: Collective Decision Making in the LLM Era” is presented at the ACM AI Leadership Summit in Atlanta, U.S., on August 30th 2026. In this paper, we detail the new research challenges and directions opened up in collective decision-making by the advances in natural language processing techniques and LLMs. The paper authors’ include Umberto Grandi, Ulle Endriss, and Theo Delemazure from the ADDI team, and initiated as a working group at the Dagstuhl seminar on Societal Impact of Computational Social Choice.
